Celebrated the Blog's Second Anniversary May 2024

Happy second birthday to the calendar of music programming! We can now properly organise the information about free live performances that are available online in both audio and video forms, so there's cause for celebration. Harry Armitage shared a large database, which makes it possible to implement the new programming organisation model. Without the need for downloads or memberships, the majority of the programmes listed in the calendar are accessible to everybody, anywhere in the world, with just one click.

All the orchestras, theatres, bands, ensembles, and soloists who share their music have my sincere gratitude. I believe that everyone who enjoys music feels the same way about each and every one of you.

Happy Second Anniversary my dearest Blog

Successes

The most notable achievement of this second year has been the implementation of the new format for organising information. It's critical that programmes seen online be cited with the same accuracy as content seen in person. First, it's crucial to remember that, just like with live performances, the online audience plans each programme in advance with equal interest and care. Second, since some members of the online audience are music experts, composers, directors, musicians, and critics, the programmes need to accurately note the name of the work, composer, year of composition, and other pertinent information. At the same time, this benefits and informs those of us who are not experts in the field and are receptive to learning. Third, although the above might seem self-evident, to the general audience it might be compared to paddling a boat across a broad ocean without a compass.  I am very fortunate that Harry gave me the compass and paddled with me. I would still be adrift in the sea if it weren't for him. Thank you very much, Harry!

A few weeks back, some orchestras, like the SWR Symphonieorchester, revealed their schedule for 2024–2025; I'll put them on the schedule in the next few days, along with The Proms, one of the year's most awaited festivals.

Failures

Greed is one of the most common vices in the modern world. I made a huge error as a result of poor time management and my compulsive urge to document everything I saw online. I was so eager to frantically jot down every imaginable kind of concert that I stopped noting ones that had been announced far earlier or those that had more detailed information.

The following steps will be taken to fix this error: All previously announced programmes will be the first to booked; the SWR Symphonieorchester, for instance, announces the programmes that will be streamed live online during the season. Second, programmes that offer details about the works to be performed will be given priority. Thirdly, video broadcasts will be prioritised. Fourth, no matter how great their content is, how well-planned they are, or if we watch them all day, programmes slated for the same broadcast day will go undetected.

Learned lessons

  • The São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra has the potential to become a model orchestra for Latin America and serve as an inspiration to others. It is noteworthy that both the federal and provincial governments, along with the public and private sectors, have contributed to its growth; not to be overlooked is the public's fondness for the orchestra. This is the emergence of an exceptionally intense synergy that may become deeply ingrained and enhance the significance and dissemination of music throughout the area, which would be highly advantageous for music itself.

  • The involvement of governments in the organisation and promotion of festivals, like the George Enescu Festival, is crucial because, in addition to providing a wealth of programmes in video format, these events serve as global cultural symbols.

  • When talking about the future of music, one of the most important topics should be accessibility in all its forms—whether it be in person, online, or through the development of new audiences. Deconstructing the myths surrounding classical music—particularly the ones that some societies attribute to its difficulty or boredom—is a crucial task.

  • In a world that is becoming more complicated and divided, music acts as a unifying factor.

Saying my goodbyes and wishing you all a wonderful day, I say Adios, which translates to I entrust my soul to God, I entrust my story to God, I entrust all my loved ones to God and I entrust everything to God. 💕💗💕

🤗From my heart, Claudia.
